VOTO LATINO

Voto Latino (VL) is a non-partisan, youth driven, multi-issue, national organization founded for the purpose of creating a unified voice for Latino youth and young adults on issues that impact their lives on a daily basis.

Rosario is one of the founding members of Voto Latino and has promoted this organization on Total Request Live in 2004, appeared in Public Service Announcements, and has held parties benefiting the organization.

STAY CLOSE

Relationships are precious. PFLAG (Parents, Families, and Friends, of Lesbians and Gays) encourages families and friends to stay close to the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people in their lives.

Rosario is involved in this organization to support her uncle Frank Jump. Her uncle and his partner, Vincenzo, were married in 2004.

ALDO FIGHTS AIDS

YouthAIDS is an HIV/AIDS education and prevention initative of PSI that targets youth between the ages of 15-24 with positive ubeat messages that promote healthy behavior. YouthAIDS uses media, pop culture, music, theater and sports to reach 600 million young people in over 60 countries with life-saving messages, products, services and care.

Rosario joins many other celebrities including: Brittany Murphy, Christina Aguilera, Charlize Theron, John Mayer, Eve, Adrien Brody and Eva Mendes as spokespeople for print advertisements supporting this campaign.

WORLD AIDS DAY

Started in 1988, World AIDS Day is not just about raising money, but also about increasing awareness, education and fighting prejudice. World AIDS Day is important in reminding people that HIV has not gone away, and that there are many things still to be done.

Rosario along with her cast-mates from the film Rent appeared in a public service announcement for World AIDS Day 2005.

CABLE POSITIVE

Cable Positive’s JOIN THE FIGHT HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention public service campaign takes positive and proactive stance on the fight against HIV/AIDS by promoting ideas and actions to get involved. Since its launch in November 2004, this award-winning campaign has utilized cable television to raise AIDS awareness, promote HIV prevention and reduce stigma and fear surrounding the disease through compelling public service announcements (PSAs) and an informative website.

Rosario appeared in a public service announcement for the cable positive campaign, stating her voice is her weapon.

SCENARIOS USA

Scenarios USA is a nonprofit organization that aims to inspire teens to make healthier and safer decisions by offering them a creative approach to thinking through and discussing their lives, their choices and their future.

Rosario appeared in a short film titled “He Said, She Said” for this organization. The short film is to help teens decide to pratice safe sex.
