According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio has moved the movie’s release from October 8 to July 11, 2011 to take advantage of “a more lucrative box office play period”.

“It’s got tremendous heart and soul,” said Sony distribution president Rory Bruer.

“And talking animals? Gimme a break, it’s so funny.”

The film’s voice cast features Adam Sandler, Sylvester Stallone, Cher and Rosario Dawson.

The Blu-ray edition will be presented in 1080p video and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. Included on a second and third disc will be the DVD and a digital copy.

Based on the best selling and highly praised novel by Rick Riordan, the movie sets off when Zeus’ master lightning bolt was stolen and is convinced that Percy Jackson (played by newcomer Logan Lerman) is the thief. Percy, being the son of Poseidon, is then summoned by the gods to a perilous quest to prove his innocence. He must retrieve the master bolt from the god of the underworld, where Persephone is trapped in a loveless marriage with Hades.

Following is an interview with Dawson, who brings delicious humor along with an enticing, sexy allure to her portrayal of the Greek goddess Persephone.

How do you envision your character, Persephone?

APersephone is the goddess of springtime as well as being Queen of the Underworld. I originally thought of her in old Greek robes and flowers but in the end I really liked the modern interpretation of Persephone with chipped nail polish and lace. It is interesting to think of her in a loveless marriage with Hades (who abducted her) and what that must have felt like for her. She is violent and aggressive and it’s fascinating because she also has innocence and sweetness and childlike qualities when she’s not being completely bitter. So she is not one-dimensional.

Are you familiar with the books?

I’m on already on book three now, I am reading the whole series. There is a lot of banter between my character and my husband (Hades) since he is madly in love with me and I can’t stand him. The story is fascinating to me and it’s been really fun remembering everything I learned about the myths and the different gods & goddesses and the trouble that they got into all the time.

What did you find interesting about the Percy Jackson stories?

I find it interesting that we have nine year olds with cell phones and kids are becoming mature at a younger age and the correlation with the increasing number of kids getting diagnosed with conditions like ADD (attention deficit disorder). So here is Percy Jackson who has been told he is dyslexic because his brain is actually hardwired for Greek, so he can’t cope with the English language. I think it is a shame that today’s kids have these words and diagnoses thrown at them and are told there is something wrong with them. Instead, in this story, Percy learns that disabilities can be seen as something positive, actually an advantage.

So you see the film as inspiring?

I do. I think it’s empowering for a kid to think he or she can be clever enough to “fool a god.” That’s actually what makes it fun. It’s not just the sword fighting; it’s not just the costumes; it’s the idea that we’re investing in kids to be our leaders and perhaps even save the day. These kids are our heroes. I think it will be fun for adults too because there’s definitely enough mayhem to raise an eyebrow or two.”

How do you think your upbringing contributed to your career?

Well I’m a New Yorker. I grew up in a squat in the Lower Eastside. My parents moved into an abandoned building when I was six. I think tenacity runs in my family. My dad worked in construction and was an electrician and my mom learned how to do plumbing and electrical work, because my dad was in the building trade. I grew up with the idea that if you want something done, you do it yourself and you can do anything that you want to do.

“Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief” opens in movie theaters on February 12, 2010!

According to a report on Mania, “Sin City 2” producer Stephen L’Heureux confirmed that the story will be based upon an original script by Miller, who will once again co-direct the sequel with Robert Rodriguez .

Additionally, L’Heureux revealed that Miller is writing the screenplay adaptation for “Hard Boiled”, which Miller is also attached to direct.

Originally published by Dark Horse in 1990, “Hard Boiled” paired Miller and artist Geof Darrow on an oversized three issue miniseries. The ultra violent story follows an insurance investigator named Carl Seltz who discovers that he is a cyborg who may be the only hope of an enslaved robot population.

However, with “Sin City 2” on deck and “Hard Boiled” still at an early stage of development, it may not happen immediately.

“We’re still developing [‘Hard Boiled’]. We got the project in turnaround from Warner Bros and Frank,” L’Heureux explained. “With ‘Sin City’ just on the horizon I don’t think we’d be able to do it with Frank right away. As simple as ‘Sin City’ seems, it’s a very complex scheduling with all these actors and it’s a very demanding shoot to be on a sound stage all day long. We have to space it for Frank.”

“Hard Boiled” was originally optioned back in 2001 by director David Fincher with Nicolas Cage onboard to star. Following a long period of inactivity, Miller told MTV News last year that “Hard Boiled” was back in development.

“Sin City 2” has also taken a long road back to the big screen. Last month, Clive Owen told MTV News that production would begin next year. Several stars from the first “Sin City” have said they would return for the sequel, including Jamie King, Michael Clark Duncan, Rosario Dawson and Alexis Bledel.

L’Heureux also hinted that “Sin City 3” might also be in the works.

Asked whether a sequel is indeed in the horizon, the 44-year-old quickly responded, “I’m hearing it might be next year,” before adding, “I heard that from a very good source…recently.” Pressed further from whom he heard the news, the leading man of “The International” coyly suggested that he may hear it from either Frank Miller or Robert Rodriguez.

The story of “Sin City 2″ may likely come from Frank Miller’s “A Dame to Kill For”, which has been long rumored to be adapted into big screen. The novel itself tells an earlier story of Dwight McCarthy that is portrayed by Clive Owen. Director Robert Rodriguez previously stated that the sequel would blend old “Sin City” element with new story lines by Miller.

Rodriguez and Miller will team up to direct the movie. Some of the original cast who will reprise their roles include Rosario Dawson, Jessica Alba, Brittany Murphy, Mickey Rourke and Michael Clarke Duncan. The release date is also still to be determined, but it is believed to take place in 2010.

Dawson just wrapped Chris Columbus film “Percy Jackson” and is currently shooting “Zookeeper” opposite Kevin James for MGM and Sony. She was last seen in “Seven Pounds” with Will Smith.

Washington formally withdrew from “Unstoppable” in early July, then came to terms two weeks later to put the pic back on track for a fall start. He’s playing a veteran engineer who jumps into a locomotive with a young conductor (Pine) to stop an unmanned runaway train loaded with toxic cargo.

Julie Yorn is producing with Scott and Mimi Rogers, and Chris Ciaffa is exec producer. The script, penned by Mark Bomback, is loosely inspired by true events.

Dawson is repped by ICM and Untitled Entertainment.

“It started as a really cheap direct-to-video project, and then it kept ballooning over the years and the budget kept getting bigger and bigger, and the project kept getting bigger and bigger, and bigger names kept coming on to it,” Zombie told MTV News. “And then it seemed like, ‘Well, now it seems theatrical.’”

Featuring the voices of Paul Giamatti, Brian Posehn, Danny Trejo and Rosario Dawson, “El Superbeasto” follows a super-powered Mexican luchador (voiced by Tom Papa) and his sultry sidekick/sister Suzi-X (Sheri Moon Zombie) as they battle the evil Dr. Satan (Paul Giamatti).

The adults-only film has had a troubled path to the screen—big or small—as Zombie explained, “the company kept changing hands. We started with one company, they got sold to another, and they got sold to another company…”

“I’m actually glad it happened that way,” explained Zombie. “The movie went from costing $1 million dollars to $8 million, and we got to make an awesome movie, so I don’t really care how it gets out there. Theatrical would be great, and I think they’re talking now about doing a limited theatrical run, so that would be cool.”

“El Superbeasto” is currently scheduled to arrive on DVD and Blu-Ray September 22.
