A list of career achievements that Rosario has accomplished – year by year.
- 1994 – Rosario is “discovered” sitting on her front stoop by Larry Clark and cast in his film Kids.
- 1995 – Kids is released in cinemas. Rosario decides to further her acting career.
- 1996 – Rosario takes a break from acting.
- 1997 – Rosario enrolls in the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. Rosario begins filming Girls Night Out and Side Streets, both of which were released later in the year.
- 1998 – Lands a role in the Spike Lee film, He Got Game.
- 1999 – Light It Up is released and Rosario receives nominations at the Black Reel Awards and NAACP Image Awards for her role in the film.
- 2000 – Gets a role in Down To You starring with many other rising stars in Hollywood. Gains a wider fan base thanks to the film.
- 2001 – Josie & The Pussycats is released and Rosario graces national magazine covers with her co-stars, including Entertainment Weekly, TV Guide and Seventeen.
- 2002 – 6 films that feature Rosario as a principal cast member are released. Film and character highlights include the blockbuster Men In Black II and the critical favorite 25th Hour.
- 2003 – Critical darling, Shattered Glass is released. And the action-adventure The Rundown debuts.
- 2004 – The Oliver Stone epic Alexander is released. Though some critics slammed the film as a “bomb”, Rosario gained attention and recognition for her portrayl of Roxane. Filming for the indie film, This Revolution begins in August. During a protest, Rosario and the film’s director were arrested for covering their faces with bandanas. Charges were later dropped in 2005.
- 2005 – The cinematic stunner Sin City is released and Rosario finishes up filming on the musical Rent. By the time Rent is released in November, Rosario graced the cover of over 6 national magazines. Filming begins for both Clerks 2 and Killshot.
- 2006 – 2 films were released in 2006, the highly anticipated sequel to Clerks – Clerks 2 (which received an 8 minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival). The Sundance Film Festival Special Jury Prize winner A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints was also seen in theaters.
- 2007 – Grindhouse began a great 2007, Rosario is featured in the Quentin Tarantino directed part of the film, titled Death Proof. Promotion for Grindhouse included covers and magazine articles featuring Rosario and other cast members on Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly and Vanity Fair. In late 2007, the release of Descent (the producing debut of Trybe Films) finally happened. Rosario attended the Tribeca Film Festival to promote the film and also talked about the issues that deal with rape with several media outlets.
- 2008 – In 2008, we saw the release of Killshot (with Mickey Rourke and Diane Lane), Eagle Eye (featuring Shia LaBeouf, Michelle Monaghan, and Billy Bob Thornton) and Seven Pounds (co-starring Will Smith). Rosario also spent the year working with Voto Latino to help get the vote out during the 2008 Presidential Election. She was one of the only people who got to attend both the Democratic and Republican National Conventions as part of her work with the organization.
- 2009 – Rosario spent most of 2009 filming new projects including Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, The Zookeeper and Unstoppable. 2009 is also the year that Rosario branched out in her career again, this time in voice-over works. Her voice was featured in the animated films The Haunted World of El Superbeasto and as the voice of Wonder Woman in the new feature Wonder Woman. Rosario also lent her voice to the small screen with roles on the children’s shows “Spongebob Squarepants” and “Handy Manny”.
